LEONARD JOHNSON fell in love with flying while still a child on the Prairies in the 1930s. He joined the RCAF in 1950 and after a series of increasingly responsible commands he attained the rank of major-general in 1978. In 1980 he was appointed commandant of the National Defence College in Kingston, Ontario.
